Happy St Patrick's Day

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a great weekend, almost over for me now but i did get one of my challenge cards finished and pretty timely too considering it is for St Patrick's Day.

For this card i wanted to combine a couple of challenges and one was a sketch challenge. I had a look at the sketch and got an idea what i wanted to do. Green is not a common colour for me to use so i didn't really have anything and i knew i would need several patterned papers to complete the sketch. So i went on good old Google to see what digital papers were out there. I found some for free online via the following blog which was a real added bonus Starynight.

I have been eyeing up the digital stamps from Sassy Studio Designs and finally purchased some and one was their St Patrick's Day image, its a great fun image and i really enjoyed colouring it. I didn't want to overload the card with green so i coloured the drink as Guinness in good old fashioned brown.

The sentiment i typed up on my computer, had a play around with the text size and font and them cut out using Spellbinders Dies.

Hope you like my card

For this card i used...
Patterned Papers from Stary night Blog
Paper and card stock from my stash

My first ever Criss Cross Card

Hi everyone,

Hope your week isn't going too badly so far, almost half way through now.

Well this card is a rarity for me for a few reasons, firstly it is my first attempt at a Criss Cross card, there was not a single Copic used...it just feels wrong LOL and not a digital element, stamp or paper in sight and i have used traditional Valentines colours and image. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out and i hope you like it.

I made up my card using the papers from my collection and decided that i would make the band removable, plus this way you can reposition the image so if you want to make the message on the removable panel secret you can do or you can move the image down slightly so you can see the top. I took pictures of all three pieces so you could see in a little more detail.

The completed card assembled

Just the band (don't you love my mini bucket in the background)

The insert with the gem detail i added.

For this card i used...

Black card from my stash
Papers & Image Country Companions by Do Crafts
Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped Circle Dies
White and Red ribbon from Stash
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Adhesive red and Heart shaped gems
White card from stash

Simple but effective Valentine

Hi everyone,

me again back with another card, this one came about as my mum gave me an embossing folder as she had managed to buy the same one twice...oops. It was certainly my gain and i really like it. As the embossing is really gorgeous on its own i did not want to do too much to the card in case it detracted from it.

Here is what i came up with...

I used the following to make this card
Couture Creations Happiness embossing folder
Flourishes sentiment stamp
Heart Punch
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Mini Gems from stash
Clear star Gelly roll

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week

Flourishes Challenge

Hi everyone,

well it didn't take me to long to play with my stamps and i thought it only fitting to used them on the Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes. Their challenge this week is a sketch which i must confess is not always my strong point, but hey i gave it ago and i hope you like my card.

For this card i used...
Flourishes Rose Stamp and Sentiment
All Papers are Nitwits "Promises" kit
Clear Star Gelly Roll
Purple & Blue Gems by Kaiser Craft
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Copics G00, G02, B00, B02, BV02, BV04

Whilst the image took a long time to colour it was so worth it, i was amazed at the quality and detail and will definitely be purchasing some more Flourishes goodies. Now i just need to win the lotto to purchase everything i want and then i think i will be good.

I would like to enter this in...

Take care and thanks for visiting

Pink and Brown LOTV

Hi everyone,

I love Pink and Brown i think it is such a fabulous colour combo and there are so many things you can do with it depending on the shades you use. I went for Mocha and Blossom from the Pink Petticoat range, those of you that have followed me for a little while know that i adore Pink Petticoat and the value for money is amazing and you are virtually always guaranteed to have the colours you need. So i printed out some different patterns and the solids on to card stock. I then decided i wanted to try a little more busy layout than i usually do. I love the detail loaded more busy layouts but i just find i can never get it to balance and i end up fussing constantly and giving up. I was determined this would not be the case this time.

I have a tendency to be highly critical with myself but i must confess that i am really happy with the way this turned out and i definitely think 2013 is the year to broaden my craft techniques. Its a bit hard to tell from the photo but the chipboard heart and flowers are coloured with metallic brown and pink star gelly rolls and they are lovely and sparkly.

For this card i used...
LOTV Image
All patterned and plain papers by Pink Petticoat
Spellbinders dies
Martha Stewart border punch
clear star, pink star and metallic brown Gelly Rolls
Copics E27, E34, E50, E71, E25, E17, R20, R81, G17
Chipboard heart and flowers all by Scrapmatts
Larger Gems by Kaiser Craft - Favourite Embellishment
Small gems (in flowers) are by Stencil Specilists

Any excuse to use Nitwits Promise Papers

Hi everyone,

I just downloaded the Nitwits Promise Collection and i was just itching to use the papers. If you are anything like me and the thought of trying to figure out matching papers fills you will dread more often than not these kits are fabulous ha ha. I love the colours and they print beautifully and i like that with digital elements and papers i make them fit my project rather than work my project around them. It is the same reason i love digital stamps so much, that and i don't end up covered in ink.

This card uses another CC Designs digital image, i must confess that i had avoiding using these for a while as i find the hair a lot harder to colour. That's another reason why i love the Hannah Lynn images so much. But i figured time to get out of my comfort zone and i am not going to improve until i practise.

For this card is used...
Patterned and Solid papers from Nitwits Promise Collection
CC Design Digital Winter Nora
Copics BV02, B41, B63, BV000, E35, E31, E33, E50, C2, C1
Sakura Black Aqualip
Gelly Rolls Silver Star, Clear Star, Sky Star
White Ribbon from stash, i coloured this with Copics
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Kaiser Crafts Gems - My Fave embellishment

Also on a random note what Copic colours does everyone use for Brown or Blonde Hair?

Have a great week and thanks for Visiting

Forever Friends Girly Card

I trust everyone had a good week, mine was pretty busy at work and definitely happy its not the week end!

I am entering the card in several challenges and would be interested to have your feedback. Girly is not really my strong point, think i have a tendency to be too much of a tomboy some ha ha. But i really enjoyed making this one and it is certainly a lot busier than my normal cards but it has all come together pretty well i think?

Well i worked around the topper this time, whereas i normally work the other way around. The image and papers are all from the same paper pack. I used a pearlescent white card blank to start. I then cut my striped paper to the size i wanted it and mounted on to slightly darker brown paper. I then cut a smaller square of flowered paper and mounted this on the same brown paper, but i made the border on this one a lot narrower. I took some more pearlescent card stock and trimmed it down to a strip to go over the from. I then punched the design along the bottom. I Cut a strip of dotty paper and adhered this to the card strip. I am shocking at trying to stick paper down straight so much confess i had to trim along the top a little to make sure it aligned. I then wrapped a white ribbon and stuck this to the back. I then adhered the strip to the card after much playing around with positioning. I cut out the image, mounted on to white card stock and them mounted again on the same brown paper. I adhered this to the card using double sided foam tape so give it a bit more lift and so it didn't look flat against the embellishments i wanted to ad. I then cut out a flourish using a die and my big shot, this was cut from the same white card stock. I really wanted to use my Marianne rose dies because i love them and decided i would make three roses out of the offcuts of the different papers and i actually really like the contrast it gives. I punched a butterfly using my trusty Martha Stewart butterfly punch and adhered to the card and then added my beloved gems. I added some stickles to the inside of the roses to give them a little more pizazz. Hope you like my efforts

I used...
Forever Friends image and papers by Do Crafts
White pearlescent card stock from Kmart
Flourishes Die
Martha Stewart Butterfly punch
Martha Stewart border punch
Gems from Kaiser craft
Marianne Rose Die
Glossy Accents
Stickles

Have a great weekend and as always thanks for joining me

Happy Birthday with Old and New

Hi everyone,

Well i am back with another card, this one i am entering in several challenges. Simon Says Stamp and Show tasked a theme of something "Old" which i am using old backing papers that have been in my stash since i originally started card making a few years ago. The Sweet Stop have a sketch as their challenge and i really liked the sketch, sometimes i find this hard to work by as i just cannot visualise it but this one i seemed to have no issue with. My final challenge is Charisma cardz and their theme is Happy Birthday and if you put the number 4 on your card you get entered 4 times in the challenge. Without much further ado here is what i created...

I started off with a 15cm x 15cm pearlescent white card base. I took two of my patterned papers and cut them down to 7cm x 14cm and adhered them both on black card stock. I then trimmed the black card stock down leaving a small back border. I then cut a piece of black card stock 3cm x 14cm and used a border punch on the bottom. I then fixed this panel to the card base using double sided tape. I then cut another piece of patterned paper to 5cm x 11cm and the adhered to more black card stock which i then trimmed down to leave a small black border. I adhered this to my card with double sided tape. For the sentiment i actually typed it out using Word and then adjust the size and spacing that i wanted and printed onto white paper. I then used a die cutting machine and dies to cut out the white sentiment and a slightly larger one in black which i then adhered together. The sentiment was then adhered to the card using square double sided foam pads to make it stand out a little more. The card still needed a little more so i added a black ribbon bow and punched out a butterfly from the offcuts of the patterned paper and adhered both using Glossy Accents and finally i added a few gems to give the card a little bit of bling.

I used...
Card Blank 15cm x 15cm from Kmart
Black card stock and patterned papers from my stash
Spellbinders Dies
Gems by Kaisercraft
Black ribbon from stash
Butterfly and Border punch both Martha Stewart

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

CAS LIM Butterfly Card

Well i found the Creative Inspirations blog a little challenging as the colours are not something i would normally use or combine but i think that was the really great thing about this challenge. I love taking part in these challenges as they get you to think outside of your comfort zone and that is something i need to do. With this card i wanted to keep it relatively simple and i hope you like what i came up with?

I used a pearlescent white card stock blank, i cut out a scalloped square from light yellow dotted paper (sorry it is really hard to see from the photo) i cut out several butterflies using spellbinders dies and a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I adhered them to the card using Glossy Accents, i love it because it doesn't dry instantly so gives you a little flexibility when it comes to positioning the item and also dries clear. I will add the sentiment later as i figure this card could be used for several different occasions.

I used...
Card stock blank is from Kmart
Spellbinders dies
Martha Stewart Butterfly punch
Light yellow papers by Pink Petticoat
The green and blue card stock are from my stash
Clear and light green gems (got this free with a magazine a while back)

Thanks for following my creations

Less is more (LIM) challenge entry

Good evening all,

This is the card i am submitting to the Less Is More challenge. For those of you that know me from Do Crafts will know the i already adore LIM cards. I must confess i did find this one a little tricky as i tend to make my cards as i go along rather than having a plan first, which has both its good and bad points, like a whole collection of failed cards oops. But i gave it my best shot. The challenge was based on their logo which i have copied in below first.

Here is my finished card

My apologies for the less than fantastic photographs

For this card is used the following;
White card stock
Black and White Musical Digital paper
Pink and Brown paper
Sentiment is from Pixie Gypsy (Create special memories every day)
White Ribbon Roses
Spellbinders scalloped oval die
Martha Stewart Butterfly punch

Thanks for taking the time to read and view my blog :)

White on White Card

Hi everyone,

I do like the simple but sophisticated finish you get from white on white cards and they can be used for a variety of different occasions. You may have gathered that i tend to make a lot of my cards without adding a sentiment, i do this mainly as i make cards when the inspiration hits me more than for a specific purpose and it allows me to use them for whatever purpose later on.

I went to the Brisbane scrapbooking and papercraft show last week end and it was most definitely a case of child in a sweet shop LOL. I showed great restraint and came away only (yes i say only) 12 new copics, several embossing folders and some cutting dies. Its definitely easy now i know what sort of things i use and those which i do not despite the fact that they maybe gorgeous or extremely useful.

Let me know your thoughts on my latest card :)

as always thanks for taking the time to check in with me and look at my latest creation

I used white card stock from my own stash
Couture Creations embossing folder Compassionate
White Ribbon from my stash
White Opal liquid pearls
Martha Stewart butterfly punch

LOTV Birthday Card

Another one that is slightly different to my normal simple cards.

This one came out really well and i like the way this card kind of came together of its own accord. i started by picking two papers but then settling on only using one. I ended up with a pink and brown colour scheme and i really wanted to use one of my LOTV stamps. The rest pretty much came together once i had matched my coloured card and papers and settled on the Copics i would use.

One of the things i really love about my Copics is that you can colour your embellishments to match if you start off with white. I brought a pack of white flowers (Kaiser Craft i believe) a while back and use my Copics to colour them to match my project. That way you don't have to have hundreds of ribbons, flowers etc in various different shades (which i do already whoops).

Here is the finished card let me know what you think :)

Thanks for taking the time!

For this card i used;

Card & Papers currently in my stash
Martha Stewart punch (very sorry but cannot remember the name)
Spellbinder dies
LOTV Stamp
Flowers which i had in my stash (the brown one coloured with my Copic Marker)
2 Gellyroll Metallic pens
Copics - RV00, E35,E25,E37,R81,E00 & E33
Clear Star Gellyroll
and my beloved Glossy Accents n the wings and pom poms to give it more dimension
also sticky foam pads which are a definite must, i used this to raise the image
