Another weekend, Another Card

Hi Everyone,

Hope your weekends have been fun and creative :)

Had a fairly busy weekend and wasn't sure if i would get to post this but glad i did.

For this card, i was going with the Easter theme and one of the challenges i would like to enter was a sketch challenge and here is my finished creation...

Isn't the image gorgeous, it was a new one i downloaded from Wee Stamps....i only meant to look and ended up with 4 new digis, i have no self control when it comes to craft goodies.

For this card i used...

Wee Stamps Digital Images
Card and ribbon from stash
Cuttlebug Swiss dots embossing folder
Martha Stewart border punch
Kaiser craft flowers and gems
patterned paper free from magazine been in my stash a wee while
My trusty Copis and Gelly Rolls

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges

I do apologise for the briefness of this post but you cannot get Bourbon biscuits in Australia and i am attempting to make my own this evening and didn't want to miss the deadline on a couple of the challenges.

Wish me luck! i craft considerably better than i cook but i really fancy a Bourbon biscuit LOL

One of the challenges i wanted to make a card for was to use the following sketch (well it was a choice of 2 and my St Patrick's day card was that one).

I also decided to make this an Easter themed card to match another challenge and i have recently purchased the perfect cheeky image and i have been dying to use her.

Here's my card

Lilac and Lace Wedding card

Hi everyone,

There was another couple of challenges i wanted to take part in and they required me to use lace. Well lace is not something i normally use but when i thought about what time of card to make Wedding came to mind.

This being the case i purchased a gorgeous image from Sassy Studio Designs (one of four oops) and she is just gorgeous and would work perfectly. One of the challenges required you to use the colour Lavender and this soft purple just works so well i think. Plus i knew i had some perfect papers from Pink Petticoat and the rest kind of came together.

Because the image itself was so gorgeous i didn't want to do a lot too it. I coloured the flowers on her dress and bouquet with V17 and then i put some clear star Gelly roll on the flowers and the mid section of her dress and then added some tiny gems to the flowers on her dress and in her hair to give it a bit more WOW factor.

I hope you like what i created.

For this card i used...
Image from Sassy Studio Designs
Pink Petticoat Patterned and plain purple digital papers
Silver card stock from stash
Spellbinders die
Martha Stewart border punch
Ribbon and lace from Stash
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Gems
Clear Star Sakura Gelly Roll
Copics V17, BG05, E000, E00, E35, R81

Happy St Patrick's Day

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a great weekend, almost over for me now but i did get one of my challenge cards finished and pretty timely too considering it is for St Patrick's Day.

For this card i wanted to combine a couple of challenges and one was a sketch challenge. I had a look at the sketch and got an idea what i wanted to do. Green is not a common colour for me to use so i didn't really have anything and i knew i would need several patterned papers to complete the sketch. So i went on good old Google to see what digital papers were out there. I found some for free online via the following blog which was a real added bonus Starynight.

I have been eyeing up the digital stamps from Sassy Studio Designs and finally purchased some and one was their St Patrick's Day image, its a great fun image and i really enjoyed colouring it. I didn't want to overload the card with green so i coloured the drink as Guinness in good old fashioned brown.

The sentiment i typed up on my computer, had a play around with the text size and font and them cut out using Spellbinders Dies.

Hope you like my card

For this card i used...
Patterned Papers from Stary night Blog
Paper and card stock from my stash
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Gems (these were clear and i coloured them with my Copics)

Copics 0, R46, C7, C7, G05, G17, G28, E00, E000, E41, E49

Spring fresh Mothers Day Card

Hi Everyone,

Well this card i made to enter in a couple of challenges. It is not Mothers Day in Australia as yet but it never hurts to get started early.

I wanted this to have a spring feel so went with a colour scheme of yellow and green with white pearlescent card and it does have a nice fresh feel i think. I wanted the image to have flowers and to be suitable for Mothers Day and i came across some printed LOTV images i got free in a card making magazine a while back. I coloured this in with Copics and Gelly rolls. This was not suitable blending paper/or card so i just used single colours and highlighted certain areas with my clear star Gelly roll to give it a little sparkle where the light hits.

I used a sketch by Charisma cardz which is there challenge this week and i just slanted my yellow rectangular section slightly to give it a little bit of difference, it just looked a bit blocky to me and we all know i like to be different :)

I adhered it all together and here is my finished card...

For this card i used...
White Pearlescent card stock
Yellow and Green Patterned papers by Frencheville
LOTV Image (this came free in a magazine)
XCut die
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Clear Gems
Green, Red and Clear Star Gelly Rolls
Copics E57, YR16, Y18, YG17, 0

Oriental Criss Cross Card

Hi Everyone,

Work has been really busy and i have sadly been giving myself headaches due to eye strain and figured it was best to take a break for a week or two from my crafting, wasn't easy i can tell you but work does pay my craft habit so could hardly give that a break ha ha.

Well my mum bless her has resolved my cutting issues and brought me an A3 paper cutter, I think she was surprised at how excited i was over this but it will make my life easier but have to try and figure out how to store it as it is fairly large. It is really good, i had to try it out with some scrap paper of course just to get a feel for it :) but its really good and you can purchase different shaped rotary blades etc so should keep me amused for a while :)

Well i wasn't really sure what the theme of my card was going to be, i decided on another Criss Cross because i really quite like them at the moment and of course i would get to play with my new toy. So i just rifled through my paper stash and i came across some Japanese papers i brought a while ago at one of the craft shows and i liked it so that started me off. I also brought some oriental girl stamps pretty much when i took up card making but sadly have barely used them so i picked out one of those.

I cut my card base and then i decided to border punch the one side of the triangles to give it a prettier feel and then i adhered my precut patterned paper triangles. I then stamped my image on the Copic card and coloured her in using my Copics and my gold metallic Gelly roll. I cut her into a circle using my spellbinders die. I adhered white ribbon across the front and then adhered my image. I made a bow using the same ribbon and adhered to the card and attached a black and white button. I then adhered some small white ribbon roses.

I wanted the insert to bit a little more fancy so cut out two labels from white card and pearlescent gold paper and adhered them together i then cut out some butterflies using a punch from the patterned paper and adhered them to the white card.

Here's my card

My fancy insert :)

For this card i used...

Japanese Paper
Oriental Stamped Girl
Momento Tuxedo Black Ink
Black card stock, white card stock and pearlescent gold paper from stash
Martha Stewart border punch and butterfly punch
Spellbinders and X-Cut dies
Gold Metallic Gelly Roll
White Ribbon
Black and White button
Copics 0, C1, C5, C7, C9, B37, E000
White ribbon roses

Hannah Lynn Centre Stepper Card

Hi All,

For my next experimentation i decided to give a centre step card a go. I viewed some templates online and then gave it a go generating my own, as you can imagine there were some failures LOL before i got to the dimensions i wanted.

Because i really love this image i wanted to keep the rest of the card fairly simple so she is the main focus and isn't she gorgeous. I may add a sentiment later, i am not sure at this stage but that's the joy of this image i think you could use it for any number.

For this card i used...
Janessa, Digital image by Hannah Lynn
Copics G05, R46, 0, E000, E00, B16, Y18, C1, C5, C7, C9
Gelly Rolls Silver star and Clear Star

Pink & Brown Tri-Fold Card

Hi everyone,

I am going through a phase of trying out different folds and shapes of cards at the moment and really enjoying it. I recently purchased a Martha Stewart scoreboard so this may have prompted my experimenting :)

This time i have tried out a Tri-fold card and i really like the way it turned out. I made mine slightly smaller than most out there (each panel is 12cm x 12cm) mainly because i do not have a paper cutter than can handle A3 cardstock so that is my next purchase on the agenda. I do a lot of my cutting with a metal ruler and craft knife but i am not the best at straight lines :)

I went with a pink and brown theme as i wanted to use up some of the items i already had in my stash, and the Hannah Lynn image was one i printed and cut out a while back but never got around to using.

For this card i used...
Hannah Lynn digital Image
Butterfly and Sentiment stamps by Flourishes
Sentiment on middle panel i generated using the computer and printed out
Pink, Clear and Mini clear gems from Stash
Ribbon from stash
Martha Stewart Border and Corner punches
Digital papers all by Pink Petticoat
White and Black card stock from stash
Copics E000, E00, E33, E35, E37, R81, G05

One Layer Card

Hi everyone,

Trust your weekend is going well so far. Had some sun in Brisbane today but more rain predicted for next week. We do need it though so shouldn't really complain.

Well one of the challenges i am entering this week is "One Layer" which is basically your card blank and any stamped or printed image with minimal embellishment. I have to say they are a little trickier than they look but it did give me the perfect opportunity to play around with my digital stamps and papers.

I took my digital paper and overlayed the digital stamp on top but felt it needed something a little more and decided to add a frame in to the mix. I picked a digital frame from my collection and then re sized the image and played around until i had it in the position i wanted. I left the inside of the image white and made the rest of the background clear so you could see the frame and paper behind. I took the paper and overlaid the framed image and it looked a lot better.

i then copied the completed layered image into word and re sized the whole thing slighting and positioned it on my paper, remembering to turn the image upside down as i am going to fold the card in half to make my card. I then trimmed the paper down to the size i wanted and leaving a decent sized white border. The folded the card in half.

I coloured the image with Copics and Sakura Gelly rolls as i wanted to add a little sparkle without any additional embellishments.

Here is my completed card...

For this card i used...

X-Press it blending card (i print all my digital stamps on to this)
The Paper Shelter Image and digital paper
Frame - from my stash but sadly cannot remember where from
Stamp also my collection
Momento Tuxedo Black ink
Sakura Gelly Rolls
Copics RV34, C3, B32, E59, R81, Y32

My first ever Criss Cross Card

Hi everyone,

Hope your week isn't going too badly so far, almost half way through now.

Well this card is a rarity for me for a few reasons, firstly it is my first attempt at a Criss Cross card, there was not a single Copic used...it just feels wrong LOL and not a digital element, stamp or paper in sight and i have used traditional Valentines colours and image. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out and i hope you like it.

I made up my card using the papers from my collection and decided that i would make the band removable, plus this way you can reposition the image so if you want to make the message on the removable panel secret you can do or you can move the image down slightly so you can see the top. I took pictures of all three pieces so you could see in a little more detail.

The completed card assembled

Just the band (don't you love my mini bucket in the background)

The insert with the gem detail i added.

For this card i used...

Black card from my stash
Papers & Image Country Companions by Do Crafts
Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped Circle Dies
White and Red ribbon from Stash
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Adhesive red and Heart shaped gems
White card from stash

Alternative Valentines Card - Kenny K

Hi everyone,

well you know how i am at being alternative when it comes to my cards and i do like making bright and funky ones. With this in mind a couple of the challenges which i wanted to enter all relate to love etc because of Valentines day, well i figured i would step completely away from tradition and really hope you like my final card.

I used a Kenny K image and coloured her with my Copics. I have to admit i initially coloured her when the power was off a few weekends ago and wasn't really sure what to use her for. I cut her out and left her on my craft table until inspiration hit me LOL

I loved the bright colours and thought they would make a great alternative to the normal reds and pinks, so i cut three panels in the same colour scheme used and embossed them so they had music notes on them. I love the look it gave. I wanted a little bit more texture so i used some black embossed paper i had to give it a bit more edge. I then adhered to my card, after much playing around to get the layout right. I tend to cut out all my different panels together and play around till i am happy as i have a tendency to change my mind.

I added black ribbon and bow (well ribbon i had, coloured with my Copic) and adhered these in the corner of the card and added heart gems in each of the corner. When it came to the sentiment i had an idea of what i wanted to say so typed this out using Word and the many free fonts i have downloaded over time and played around with it until i was happy and then printed this straight onto yellow card stock, cut it out with my small circle Spellbinders Die and adhered to the card. I used dimensionals to add lift to my image as i wanted her to be the focal point and i am really happy with the results.

Hope you like it? here it is...

For this card is used...

Kenny K Digital Image
Card stock was all from my stash
White Ribbon coloured with Copic
Couture creations embossing folder
Heart Gems from my stash
Copics (sorry didn't note these down at the time)
computer and free fonts for sentiment

The Paper Shelter DT Call - Nothing ventured Nothing gained

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a good weekend so far, hard to believe it is virtually over already.

The Paper Shelter are running a DT call until the 20th February. I love their digital images and have a few in my now becoming quite vast digital stamp collection and i figured why not, give it a go and see what happens.

I purchased this image recently (from The Paper Shelter) and i wasn't sure how much use i would get out of it. Well the answer to that is heaps, i love it and it is a joy to colour. I also wanted to try something different so i took a digital paper and overlaid the digital image on top and removed the non required white areas so that it left me only with the image to colour. I think it really makes the image pop and i love the effect it gives. I did this using the free software GIMP but i know you can do it using word or any photo editing software. I then coloured her in using my beloved Copics. I would expect it would depend on the printer you have but i was able to use my colourless blender to correct several mistakes without it having any affect on the printed digital paper, it didn't fade it or affect it in anyway.

All the papers used are digital ones i have in my collection but sadly i cannot remember where i obtained these now as i got them when i first started crafting and this was before i started logging everything.

For this card i used...
Little Red Riding Hood Digital Image by The Paper Shelter
Digital papers from my stash
Flowers are by Kaisercraft
Gems and ribbon are from my stash
Cardstock from stash
Spellbinders Die
Marianne Leaf Dies
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Sakura Black Aqualip
Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll

Copics
Hair  E21, E25, E29
Basket   E47, E49
Cape, Shoes and Bows R29
Face   E000, E00, G05, R11
Dress and Socks C3, C5

As always thanks for visiting and hope you have fun crafting

Simple but effective Valentine

Hi everyone,

me again back with another card, this one came about as my mum gave me an embossing folder as she had managed to buy the same one twice...oops. It was certainly my gain and i really like it. As the embossing is really gorgeous on its own i did not want to do too much to the card in case it detracted from it.

Here is what i came up with...

I used the following to make this card
Couture Creations Happiness embossing folder
Flourishes sentiment stamp
Heart Punch
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Mini Gems from stash
Clear star Gelly roll

Nothing says i love you like a heart filled with bling!

Hi everyone,

For this card i wanted to combine a number of challenges but also step outside of my comfort zone a little more. I have to say it turned out better than i hoped as i was beginning to think i have may have over done it somewhat. One of the challenges is your favourite colour combo and i really really love white and blue, its just so fresh. I know its not your typical valentines colours but then i do like to be different.

Let me know what you think...

For this card i used..
Nitwits "Promise" collection for all papers

Flourishes Challenge

Hi everyone,

well it didn't take me to long to play with my stamps and i thought it only fitting to used them on the Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes. Their challenge this week is a sketch which i must confess is not always my strong point, but hey i gave it ago and i hope you like my card.

For this card i used...
Flourishes Rose Stamp and Sentiment
All Papers are Nitwits "Promises" kit
Clear Star Gelly Roll
Purple & Blue Gems by Kaiser Craft
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Copics G00, G02, B00, B02, BV02, BV04

Whilst the image took a long time to colour it was so worth it, i was amazed at the quality and detail and will definitely be purchasing some more Flourishes goodies. Now i just need to win the lotto to purchase everything i want and then i think i will be good.

Pink and Brown LOTV

Hi everyone,

I love Pink and Brown i think it is such a fabulous colour combo and there are so many things you can do with it depending on the shades you use. I went for Mocha and Blossom from the Pink Petticoat range, those of you that have followed me for a little while know that i adore Pink Petticoat and the value for money is amazing and you are virtually always guaranteed to have the colours you need. So i printed out some different patterns and the solids on to card stock. I then decided i wanted to try a little more busy layout than i usually do. I love the detail loaded more busy layouts but i just find i can never get it to balance and i end up fussing constantly and giving up. I was determined this would not be the case this time.

I have a tendency to be highly critical with myself but i must confess that i am really happy with the way this turned out and i definitely think 2013 is the year to broaden my craft techniques. Its a bit hard to tell from the photo but the chipboard heart and flowers are coloured with metallic brown and pink star gelly rolls and they are lovely and sparkly.

For this card i used...
LOTV Image
All patterned and plain papers by Pink Petticoat
Spellbinders dies
Martha Stewart border punch
clear star, pink star and metallic brown Gelly Rolls
Copics E27, E34, E50, E71, E25, E17, R20, R81, G17
Chipboard heart and flowers all by Scrapmatts
Larger Gems by Kaiser Craft - Favourite Embellishment
Small gems (in flowers) are by Stencil Specilists

Any excuse to use Nitwits Promise Papers

Hi everyone,

I just downloaded the Nitwits Promise Collection and i was just itching to use the papers. If you are anything like me and the thought of trying to figure out matching papers fills you will dread more often than not these kits are fabulous ha ha. I love the colours and they print beautifully and i like that with digital elements and papers i make them fit my project rather than work my project around them. It is the same reason i love digital stamps so much, that and i don't end up covered in ink.

This card uses another CC Designs digital image, i must confess that i had avoiding using these for a while as i find the hair a lot harder to colour. That's another reason why i love the Hannah Lynn images so much. But i figured time to get out of my comfort zone and i am not going to improve until i practise.

For this card is used...
Patterned and Solid papers from Nitwits Promise Collection
CC Design Digital Winter Nora
Copics BV02, B41, B63, BV000, E35, E31, E33, E50, C2, C1
Sakura Black Aqualip
Gelly Rolls Silver Star, Clear Star, Sky Star
White Ribbon from stash, i coloured this with Copics
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Kaiser Crafts Gems - My Fave embellishment

Boys wintery card

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone has had a good week end and that the weather hasn't been to bad where ever you are in the world.

This card i made to combine a few challenges and i have to say i moved and rearranged the layout so many times it made me dizzy before i settled on the finished layout. But that's why i like taking part in these challenges, the chance of winning something is always good, but its the fact that it stretches your own creativity and ideas. You try things you wouldn't normally and although i sometimes stress because it may not necessarily have a lot of ideas on some themes in the end i am always quite pleased at the result and getting outside my comfort zone.

For this card i used the following;

CC Designs Digi Winter Trevor
NitWits Petal Fresh for the patterned papers
Card Blank, Blue backing paper and silver card from stash
Martha Stewart Corner Punch
Snowflake Punch..Xcut?
Gems Kaiser Craft - My Fave Embellishment
Copics C7, B34, C9, B93, C3, C0, E50, B95
Gelly Rolls Clear Star and Silver Star

My attempt at Vintage...sadly we go together like oil and water

This is my final post of the evening...this was for the crafts and Me challenge which is Vintage. Whilst i love other peoples vintage cards the thought of making my own really feels me with apprehension. It just seems to be the one style i just cannot get my head around. Whilst my card below is probably my best attempt so far i must confess i am still not happy with it. i look at it and feel like it isn't really sure what style it is. But hey i thought i would give it ago so here is my card.

For this card i used...

So Stylish digi from The Paper Shelter
Chipboard which i coloured with Copics from my stash
Papers, sentiment and flowers from Kmart
Copics E11, E17, E71, R81, E13, R11, E00

Help Needed!

Hi everyone,

well i really think i need to stay away from the Crafts and Me website...i will just have a look i thought...three new digital stamps later ha ha. The one i have used on my card below is Butterflies of Hope by Hannah Lynn and i just adore her. I really couldn't wait to print her out and colour.

I need your advice though...i seem to be getting worse at my hair colouring and not better...it maybe that i am over blending or not flicking enough but i really don't know and if any of you wonderful people have any advice i would really love to hear it. I think maybe i am over thinking the whole thing or maybe laying down too much ink to start i just don't know....

I wanted to keep this one mainly pretty simple but with a real "pop" of colour and i really like the end result.

I used...
Hannah Lynn Digital Image
Papers & Card Stock from my rapidly depleting stash
Flowers and Gems were from my Stash
Gelly Roll Clear Star
Copics YG09, B05, RV06, Y08, E50, C9, C7, C5, V17, R46

Life is a circus

Hi everyone,

On a random note before i get on to this evenings card, is anyone having an issue with Blogger, i have some badges that i want to add to my blog but when i select add gadget and then try to add my own (which i am pretty sure is how i did it last time) it comes up with an error message. I have tried their suggestion and tried it on several computers but each time i get the same error message, SUPER frustrated so if you have any suggestions i would really appreciate them.

OK on to tonight's card, i am going through a phase with my new digi stamps from The Paper Shelter at the moment and i wanted a bright colour scheme. I had some of the free papers left over from my other card so when with pink and green. For someone who isn't a huge fan of pink i sure seem to be using a lot lately ha ha.

Isn't she a gorgeous image, she was a lot of fun to colour and i think she would suit a number of different colour schemes. But i must confess i keep looking at this card and thinking it needs something else but i just can't quite put my finger on it. The font for the sentiment i downloaded from Fontspace.com and i generated on my computer. I love that you can get so many amazing fonts online and i like being able to create my own sentiments in the size and style i want.

I used...
Black Card Blank from Kmart
papers are free from Australian Simply Cards
Image is from the Paper Shelter
Single Gems are by Kaiser Craft
I used spellbinders dies
Copics
Sakura Gelly Roll, Aqualip, Metallic and Glaze pens

I would like to enter this in the following challenges

Thanks for joining me
