Non Traditional Christmas Card

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a paper pack a while back and whilst the paper is super pretty i have been scratching my head at combinations to use on a card. Does anyone else purchase paper packs and then just stare at the different designs because you can't figure out which combinations work LOL.

As Christmas is now approaching i thought this would be a good theme to start, Pinterest is also my best friend when it comes to getting card and layout inspiration so i had a good look around. Plus lets be honest you cannot go wrong with Tartan. Hope you like what i have come up with.

For this card i used.
White & Black card stock and Black Gems from Stash
Sentiment Stamp - Kaiser Craft
Dies - Spellbinders
Gold Embossing Powder
DCWV Winter Wonderland Paper Pack
We R Memory Keepers punch board

Playing with Distress Inks

I have recently discovered Distress Inks and am loving playing around with them. I was looking at Pinterest for different colour combinations and this one seemed bright and fun, seeing as i am looking in to making a few Birthday cards it seems a good choice. The stamps used i got as a free gift from Papercrafter magazine and they were a good excuse to play as i have been looking at purchasing some Lavinia stamps so it was a good excuse to play. Initially i was going to stick the blended image straight on to the white card stock but in the end mounted it on black first and think it looks much better.

Items Used
White 280gsm Card stock for base
Neenah white card stock for ink blending and image
Stamps - Free with Papercrafter magazine
Black Ink - Momento Tuxedo Black
Distress Inks - Wild Honey, Picked Raspberry & Wilted Violet

Rose Card Birthday Card

My youngest Niece is turning 8 soon and i needed to come up with some Birthday card ideas for her. She loves Unicorns and last year i made her a card with them but using rainbow colours. For this card i thought i would try something different and i live the end result. I recently purchased a mixed Rose Gold card stock pack and the colour is fantastic, i really love it.I used the glitter card stock and the pearlescent cardstock and i really love the effect.

Apologies, the card didn't photograph well so its hard to see how glittery the end result it.

Items used:
White 280gsm Card stock
Glitter & Pearlescent Rose Gold card stock -  Crafters Choice
Unicorn Die - Free gift in Papercrafter Magazine

Simple and Sparkly Christmas

I recently brought a mixed pack of silver card and was itching to make a card with them. The pack contains glitter card, pearlescent card and mirror card and i thought these would be prefect for a Christmas card. I spend ages on Pinterest trying to get ideas but this one was simple and came together by itself,  but i think it came out pretty effective.

Items used:

White card stock 280gsm for base
Glitter & Pearlescent silver card by Crafters Choice
Reindeer Die - Uniquely Creative Geometric Deer
White card 210gsm for sentiment
Sentiment Die - Kaisercraft i think
Double sided tape

Where does the time go?

I knew i had not posted for a while but i didn't realise just how long it has been. Although my company moved offices and i moved house during this time. Moving went smoothly but packing up the craft room was a challenge, i kept finding things i had forgotten i had and then wanting to make stuff but i couldn't.
All settled in but lost my mojo for a while there but just been playing around with a few things and the idea for this card formed.

This started off because i was playing around with my Distress Inks, i have had them for some time but not really had a chance to do much with them. I was playing around with different combinations and practicing blending. I loved this combo and decided i wanted to make a card with it.

Distress Ink combo - Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry.

Its so sunny and bright, i remembered i had gotten some free tropical stamps with one of the Australian Card magazines a while back and thought they would go perfectly.

I have also recently gotten a Brother Scan N Cut and i am loving it, i am really not good at fussy cutting. I used this to cut out my stamped images and to cut the shape from my ink blending. Black card stock them just seemed to make the whole thing pop more.

Items Used:
Black Card Stock - From Stash
White Card Stock - X press it blending card
Stamped Images & Sentiment - Free with Australian Card Magazine
Brother Scan N Cut - Used to cut out stamped images and blended shape
Distress Inks - Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry
Copics - G05, Y17, Y18, YR09, RV09
Adhesive - Double sided tape and foam dots

Double Z Fold Card

Hi Everyone,

I have seen so many amazing Double Z Fold cards on Pinterest and really wanted to give this a try but at first glance they looked fairly tricky to create. I looked around online and found a tutorial on The Stamp Witch Blog and it was super easy to follow and i cannot thank her enough for posting this.

I wanted a fun and different card but because this is one i plan to be sending overseas i needed to be aware of posting it and costs etc. This folds fairly flat and is 41\2 in squared so a really good size.

For this card i used:

Black Cardstock - American Crafts
Sentiment Stamp - KaiserCraft
Ink - India Ink - Black
Square Die - Uniquely Creative
Christmas Tree Die - Free in Issue 123 Australian Simply Cards Magazine
Digital Papers - Nitwits Collections - Christmas Roman
Tutorial - Stamp Witch Blog Tutorial

Not a square card!

I tend to prefer square cards for some reason so decided to step out of my comfort zone with this next card and went with rectangular. I have a bit of a Nitwits Collections addiction going on and instantly loved their Enchanting digital kit. It isn't colours i would normally choose but the are so fresh and bright that i couldn't resist. The other difference i wanted to try was a card without an image, focusing on words or a sentiment instead. It isn't something i do very often. This kit is fantastic as you get so many wonderful items in it so i also used their circle sentiment too.

For this card i used:

Blue Cardstock, Blue Gems & Mini Gems - From my stash
Digital Papers and Sentiment/Wording - Nitwits Collections - Enchanting
Circle Die - Uniquely Creative
Butterfly Die - Spellbinders
Adhesive - Double sided tape & Dimensionals

Neon Halloween

This card came about purely from playing around and I think because I didn't over think it, it all seemed to come together by itself. I like the outcome as it all just seemed to flow. Because I realised on a previous card that I had printed four digital stamps on to the wrong card stock it was a little tricky to use my normal go to colouring medium my Copics, so I figured I would be a little experimental.

Then it just came to me....Neon Sharpies :)

so I coloured my image with these and really loved the bright fun outcome that was the end result but then I hit a snag...no coloured paper, card or embellishments that would match my colour scheme. I figured I could go with your basic black card but I really wanted patterned papers on it also, I went looking through my stash and at my digital papers and then I thought I wonder what would happen if I printed a paper with a black background with a white image and then coloured it in, this is how my to patterned papers came to be. I really love the neon pink cobwebs.

But then I wanted to add a bit more colour to the layout so I cut a piece of white card stock to mat the cobweb paper on and before adhering the patterned paper I went around the edge that would show with my neon orange sharpie and it makes everything pop but you wouldn't know I coloured it in and the card stock wasn't that colour.

I then took a piece of white ribbon and coloured this with my yellow neon sharpie just to give it a bit more colour and used some super cute spider embellishments from my stash. Sadly the picture didn't pick up just how bright this card is but I love it because it is just a little bit different!

Digital Stamp - Vixie by Hannah Lynn
Inks/Pens - Neon Sharpies in Pink, Orange, Green and Yellow
Embellishments - Mini Gems, Spiders and Ribbon all from Stash
Cardstock - Kaiser Craft in Black and White

Oriental Style Card

I have been going through my stash and trying to use items i have had for sometime but not done anything with. A lot was purchased when i first got into crafting and before i found my style etc. I brought these beautiful Asian papers at a craft show years ago but never got around to using and it was a shame because they are really beautiful!

I haven't added a sentiment yet because i haven't completely decided what to use her for and to be honest i think this could be used for multiple occasions.

Starting on Christmas Cards

Well i figured it was time i at least started to contemplate Christmas Cards as the year i rapidly flying past. I wanted to make something simple and classy, nothing too fancy and without any images or digital elements (as challenge for me that's for sure) and that's how this card came to be. I figured you couldn't really go wrong with black and white.

Has a little incident with my white embossing but i am going with it adds to the christmasy feel :)

For this card i used:

Black Cardstock & Gems - From my Stash
Paper - Pretty sure this is by KaiserCraft (it has been in my stash a wee while)
Adhesive - Good old double sided tape
Embossing Power - Nuvo
Bow - Made on my We R Envelope Punch Board

I Loooovvvveeee Halloween!

Its no secret i looovvvveee Hannah Lynn Images and this was one i haven't played with for some time, i love digital papers and stamps because you can set them to the size you need them. Although Etsy can be like a candy shop to crafters :)

I really enjoyed making this card and it turned out like i visioned which i was happy about, although i did make a rookie error as i put the wrong card stock in my printer when i printed my image so although i coloured it with my Copics there is no blending. But i am still happy with it.

Cardstock - Bazzil  - Raven
Digital Stamp - Kara by Hannah Lynn (Etsy)

No Posts in ages and then two in one day

To be honest this card came about with more playing around with my stash, specifically my new toy a Mini Minc Machine. I have been looking at tutorials online and seeing how other people do it. Mine didnt come out right (i clearly did something wrong) but i actually really like the effect it has given...so if anyone asks i did it this way on purpose ha ha.

Seriously, Where does the time go

I can't believe it has been so long since i last posted, i have still been crafting on and off but nowhere near as much as i would like.

This card was well outside of my normal but i got the stamp free with a magazine (Thank you Cardmaking in Easy Steps) and this was the source of my inspiration. I actually enjoyed working outside my comfort zone and am pretty please with the outcome, although clearly fussy cutting isn't something i excel at ha ha.

For this card i used the following:

Flamingo Stamp - Free with the Tropical Delights stamp set with Cardmaking in Easy Steps Issue 25
Copic - RV32 (sorry didn't try shading)

Male Card

Hi All,

I dont know about you but i always struggle with Male cards, i have had this Kenny K image for quite some time now and this is the first time i have used it. I have tried to keep the card itself fairly simple as the image really is such fun and being a male card i didnt want to overload it with embellishments.

Papers: These are a British set i think i purchased from Do Crafts stockists ( i have had it for some time and not gotten around to using it)

Oh how i love Hannah Lynn Images - Love Yellow it is so cheerful and summary

Hi All,

Back with my second post of the day. All of you will know that my love of Hannah Lynn images borders on obsessional but i just love them. They are fun and funky and a dream to colour, i like that you can colour them in a variety of different ways depending on the look you are going for. I also love the colour scheme of Yellow, Grey and Black that i have used on this card and i am really pleased with the way she turned out. Which for me is a big thing because i often find i am my own worst critic when it comes to my card making.

Seem to have found my card making mojo :)

Hi All,

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. I have been quite successful (at least i think so ha ha) and made a few cards that i would like to share with you over my next few posts.

The first surprising thing about this card is it isn't a square, thought i would try going with rectangular for a change and really pleased with how she turned out.

Paper & Card Stock, Ribbon and gems all from my ever growing stash :)

Sassy Studio Designs - Fun Card

Good Evening everyone,

Hope you all had or are having a great weekend. Cannot believe mine is almost over already, blink and its over.

For this card i wanted to keep things a little simple but still have a fun and classy card. This digi i purchased from Sassy studio Designs instantly came to mind, she is a lot of fun. Although i must confess i am not 100% happy with my colouring on this one but i know i still need a lot of practice. Speaking of colouring with Copics i am looking into doing one of the classes at Kit and Clowder as i have read a few peoples blogs that have done one and their colouring is awesome...definitely have colouring envy :)

I decided to go with a more traditional colour scheme of Black, White and Red, i really think it is a colour combo that you simply cannot go wrong with.

I keep looking at this card and whilst i am very happy with it, i cant help thinking it just needs a little more. Because i cannot place what it needs i have left it as is as i figure it is better than trying to add more to it and ruining it entirely, does anyone else experience this?

For this card i used

Paper, Cardstock, Ribbon and gems all from Stash.
Embossing Folder - Couture Creations
Image - Sassy Studio Designs
Colouring - My trusty Copics

Halloween Hannah Lynn - Can't decide if i am early for next Halloween or terribly late for the last one

Hi Everyone,

Well after three cards using the same patterned papers i felt it was time i changed it up. I went with a Halloween Theme this time, i actually can't remember the last time i made a Halloween card so it seemed the obvious choice.

Anyone that has been following me for a wee while will know that i utterly adore Hannah Lynn images, they are funky and a joy to colour. This is a new Hannah Lynn i had purchased and i thought i would go with the traditional Purple, Orange and Green colour scheme for my card.

For this card i used:

Image - Hannah Lynn (Purchased at Crafts & Me)
Papers & card stock - All from my stash
Flowers - Kaiser Craft
Gems, Charm and Twine from Stash
Copics - 100, G28, YR09, B14, BV08, W7, C2, E50

I would very much like to enter my card in the following challenges:

Thanks for taking the time to stop and look, it is always nice reading your comments and feedback.

Have a great week end everyone
